Abstract

North-south divide in Climate change negotiations have impeded the formation of a consensus at UNFCC on a legally binding agreement which can succeed the Kyoto Protocol. Three main issues of contention among north and south countries are: transfer of green technologies which will help global south to mitigate and fight climate change, knowledge disparities and the principle of “common but differentiated responsibility” which suggests that rich industrialized world should take more responsibility for environmental damage in terms of actions and commitments.
