Rajasthan extends between 23º3'N to 30º12'N latitudes and 69º30'E to 78º17'E longitudes. It is the largest state of India with a land area of about 3,42,239 sq. km. Out of which 60 per cent area falls within the Thar desert. The total population of the state is 6.86 crores comprising 75.11 per cent as rural and 24.89 per cent as urban area (Census 2011). It has 10.4 per cent of total area, 5.67 per cent of population and only 1 per cent of water resources of entire country. Administratively the state is divided into 33 districts.
