A STUDY OF PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF INDIAN MUTUAL FUNDS- WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO OPEN-ENDED EQUITY DIVERSIFIED SCHEMES

Abstract

In this paper an attempt has been made to analyse the performance Analysis of selected equity diversified schemes of Indian mutual funds against risk free rate and benchmarks return over the five years. The selected sample consists of 5 Growth oriented equity diversified Mutual Fund schemes by using different performance measures such as Beta, Standard deviation, Covariance, Variance, Sharpe Ratio, Treynor and Jensen Measure were used for this paper. The data used is monthly closing NAV’s and benchmark market index closing for the study period from April 2012 to March 2017. For the purpose of conducting this study the selected schemes HDFC Top 200 fund (G), Reliance top 200(G),ICICI Prudential top 200(G),Canara Robeco equity diversified fund(G),Birla Sun Life frontline equity (G) Mutual Funds have been studied.The analysis of selected funds shows beta value of less than 1 which means that the funds will be less volatile than the market. HDFC Top 200 fund and Birla Sun Life Front Line equity has the lowest standard deviation of among all the other selected mutual funds.
