The story “The Gentlemen of the Jungle” can be characterized by the bizarre and an unsavoury fact that humanity has come to play a crucial role in determining planet’s economy and geology. In the commencement of the story a human is seen co-existing with the nonhumans that on the surface appear-like a perfect harmonious act. They share material valuables for instance the “hut” and communicate very frankly, but soon the nonhumans are seen attacking the human and depriving him of his own assets thereby, raising the questions of possession and ownership. At a deeper level the story communicates a subversive sub-story of resistance and subversion from the nonhuman point of view, which holds a very crucial place in the ecocritical studies.
