Abstract

Tourism is the activity of travelling from one place to another for the purpose of pleasure, recreation, business, education etc. and it is enhanced by various factors like beauty, wildlife, flora and fauna, cultural heritage, technology and international value of the destination. The attracting power of the destination to attract the tourist is either natural or sometimes manmade. The Great Himalayan National Park is situated in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. The park has been inscribed in the UNESCO world heritage list in 2014 and the park got the international exposure. World Heritage Designation to the Great Himalayan National Park have helped in the growth of tourism in the regions. The main objective of this research paper is the study the impacts of World Heritage Designation to Great Himalayan National Park in tourism growth. It is observed that World Heritage Designation to Great Himalayan National Park have positive impacts on the growth of tourism in the study area.
