INFLUENCE OF THEORETICAL, ECONOMIC AND AESTHETIC DIMENSIONS OF VALUES ON SELF CONCEPT OF HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS - A STUDY

Abstract

Values are guiding principles that shape our world’s outlook, attitude and conduct. The field of value education is as broad as life itself and touches every aspect of human life and personality. On the other hand, self concept is very important and essential in developing a student personality. Parents and teachers have to consider various factors that enhance values and keep the self concept for developing a student personality. The main objectives of the topic are to find out the significant mean difference of self-concept among higher secondary school students belongs to good, average and poor categories of theoretical, economic and aesthetic dimensions of values. A sample size of 600 higher secondary school Students were selected and taken up for the study. Purposive and Simple random sampling method has been used by the researcher for selecting the samples. Study of Values Test developed by Dr.R.K.Ojha and Dr.Mahesh Bhargava and Self-Concept Rating Scale developed by Dr. (Mrs.) Pratibha Deo was used for the study. It has been found that, theoretical, economic and aesthetic dimensions of values significantly influence the self-concept of higher secondary school students belongs to good, average and poor categories of values.
