Abstract

India being the second largest country by population, has a significant impact on employment opportunities in the country. With increasing employment rate, it has become one of the revolving issues the nation is trying to combat. And there is a constant decline in employment rate with each passing year. According to the census 2011, 68.84% of the total population of India lives in villages, while the other remaining population 31.16 is distributed in various towns and other urban region. And through these graphics, the diversity of distribution is quite evident in India. Though the Government is making efforts towards each sector’s development, but the process is quite inadequate, taking care of the targets to be achieved. And for the adequate implementation of various processes to be undertaken, there is a need of efficient utilization of resources and availability of skilled individuals. This is where skill development plays a major role for the development of one’s nation. This paper focuses on the existing systems enforcing skills development in rural India and how the development of skills could lead to increased employment and various other entrepreneurship related opportunities among the youth population residing in rural areas.
