There are constant threats, abuse and harassment in myriad forms that challenge the spirit of journalism among the women journalists. The life of women journalists is in constant peril. The journalism as a profession is turning out to be unsafe for women; this is more so evident in the age of digital journalism with global reach. There are increased instances of online harassment, bullying and abuse of women journalists. In the guise of digital anonymity, the haters are carrying out targeted campaigns aimed at tarnishing the image of women journalists who do not subscribe to their ideologies and who do not suit their interests. Though this is a global phenomenon, many Indian women journalists too are facing the similar situation on the digital journalism platforms. Ever since the proliferation of digital media, the threats to women journalists and other forms of harassment like abuse and trolling have become order of the day. This makes life of women journalists doubly challenging. This is in addition to the gender-bias they face and discrimination they had to overcome in and out of the domestic life and in society in general. This paper analyses different forms of online harassment, abuse, threats to women journalists making their professional life a daunting task.
