Abstract

There was a time start-ups had to stay aside an oversized portion of their capital for their IT infrastructure. It’s no secret that the cloud has become a significant part of a typical company’s IT planning. Startups neither can afford the money nor time to build their own IT infrastructure as their primary focus should ideally be on their Core Domain - Product or a Service. Start-ups in India are uniquely positioned to excel in digital transformation journey and cloud is the key enabler. Cloud computing is rising as a robust computing commonplace with its aim of economical utilization and cost-efficient resolution and due to cost efficiency, scalability and anytime-anywhere accessibility, cloud helps startups to embrace market. Its low initial costs help organizations not to buy servers and other equipment or hire IT experts, and they can use as much or as little capacity as needed. Thus, this paper is an attempt to review the existing literature on the concept of cloud computing, role of cloud computing in digitalizing the start-ups and the challenges start-ups faced in adopting cloud.
