AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENTS UNDER SETHUPATHIS OF RAMANATHAPURAM

Abstract

The foremost and main occupation of Tamil people is Agriculture which was the spine of economy for every region since historical ages. Breathe of each Tamil people is land. The welfare of the region is maintained through land revenue. The rulers of each kingdom being total proprietor of the land needed to take a unique consideration in the dissemination and improvement of the land. Considering these facts this paper explains the agricultural developments evolved and the methods implemented to develop agriculture and the sources of water bodies, the steps taken to protect those water bodies, further it details the trading of cultivated goods, coins used and so on. These facts are mainly bound and concentrated to Sethupathi rulers of Ramnad district
