ROLE OF HARYANA GOVERNMENT IN WOMEN SPORTS EMPOWERMENT

Abstract

The aim of this study was to know the role of Haryana government in women sports empowerment among Haryana female hockey players. The objective of the study were to know the empowerment of girls in the sports of Hockey, facility available for female hockey players at center, to access the behaviour of the coach, to access the behaviour of the teammate, to know the exposure of the participation in number of Competition and to know the Govt. incentives after participation in hockey. The study was conducted on thirty (30) females hockey player were randomly selected from Rajiv Gandhi Khel Stadium, Rohtak, Haryana. The sample age ranged from 12 to 25 years. The selected variables for the study were Facility of Center (FC), Behaviour of Coach (BC), Behaviour of Teammates (BT), Sports Competition (SC), and Government Incentive after Participation in Sports (GIPS). Self-prepared Closed Questionnaire and the descriptive survey method was used for collection of data. Percentile method was used for analysis of data. In regard to variable FC, the percentage of female hockey players getting good sports facilities were 96.67% and those who were not proper facilities were 13.34%. In regard to variable BC, the percentage of female hockey players those who believed that coaches plays vital role to improving the sports performance, guidelines of coaches are important were 100%. In regard to variable BT, the percentage of female hockey players those who believed that, good behaviour of teammates is necessary, the motivated female hockey players were 63.33% and the demotivated female hockey players were 36.67%. In regard to variable SC, the percentage of female hockey players in respect to upgrade the talent and power of female hockey players through higher level of sports competition were 100%. In regards to variable GIPS, the percentage of female hockey players those who satisfied with government Rewards/ Awards were 87.77% and unsatisfied were 12.23%. It has been observed that the distribution of response (Yes) percentage ranged from 63.33% to 100%, further highest was observed in the variable namely BC, SC followed by FC, GIPS and the least was BT and response (No) percentage ranged from 0 % to 36.67 % further highest was observed in the variable namely BT followed by GIP, FC and the least was BC and SC. It was concluded that the better facilities from centers female hockey players are able to enhance their performance to getting good achievement, this is one of the biggest step can be taken by providing them proper equipments, goods and healthy diet. The good behaviour of coaches are directly increase the performance and achievements of female hockey players, coaches plays vital role to improving the sports performance, guidelines of coaches are important to achieve their goals. Good and friendly behaviour with their teammate that is necessary for good performance and better results of team. The co-ordination of teammates are nearly equal to achieve high goal and scores. The high levels of competition push them to enhance their performance and explore their competition sprit. It is very difficult to enhance the standard of sports without support of government.
