Abstract

With a view to developing English language competency among the students, there are many classroom pedagogies. However, while measuring the outcomes of the classroom intervention, it shows the failure of so called sophisticated classroom pedagogies. Keeping this in mind, the researcher tried to find out an alternative to replace the prevailing classroom pedagogies for developing rapid acquisition of competency in English through constructive approach. There are two different groups aim to teach English language through two different types of pedagogy. One group believes to teach through traditional pedagogies and the other believes to teach through constructive pedagogy. It is necessary to make use of interdisciplinary pedagogy in classroom for achieving inclusive desirous results. The researcher carried out a survey to know the opinions of some selected teachers of English to know the status of RACE. The research components included in the questionnaire were understanding of the concept, activities, style of teaching, use of various teaching learning materials, role of teacher-facilitator and evaluation system. In all, there were 30 teachers of English teaching in various schools and colleges were made to reflect over the questionnaire. They were made to answer the questions based on their own prevailing classroom teaching patterns. The result of the survey communicates; there is a dire need of explaining the concept of RACE and its need. It is also found form the study that the students need to practice both knowledge and skills in learning the language. Exclusive style of teaching language through skill based approach doesn’t help students to develop their cognition.
