All year it was thought that performance is the outcome of Central abilities collectively known as intelligence however increasingly it has been realised that in addition to intelligence emotions are equally or even more responsible for performance and the the concept of emotional quotient has become popular particularly in management science emotions are powerful organisers of thought and actions and paradoxically indispensable for reasoning and rationally emotional quotient has its roots in the concept of social intelligence first coined by real thandai in 1920 psychologist have group intelligence in three clusters namely abstract intelligence thorndike define social intelligence as the ability to understand and manage men and women boys and girls to at wisely in human relations.
