Abstract

Fish is the main source of the poor people. Bihar State is basically a agricultural based state. Here 85% people depend on agriculture and allied activities such as fisheries, dairy, poultry etc. Fisheries are important, most promising and fast growing food providing sector in Bihar, contributing 7.58% of annual growth rate and accounting for 1.85% of Gross State Domestic Produce (GSTD) in 2004-2005. Fresh water fish is most promising but climate change is likely to worsen the situation.
