Abstract

A pool is organized as a short-term electricity market with access for generators, distributors and final consumers. A distinction can be made between a mandatory and a voluntary pool. One of the fundamental problems of a competitive reorganization of the EI is to reconcile the freedom of a large number of market actors to trade individually with the optimal operation of the interconnected system. This is the characteristic that explains why the EI requires the continued existence of the Electricity Industry Control Center.
