Abstract

This paper intends to understand how interfaces between society and environment are reflected in Marx’s writings. It also wants to examine whether environment as a factor informs in Marxian philosophy as ontological aspect. Following aspects emerge after examining the two works of Marx-The Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts of 1844 and German Ideology: The idea of nature is bedrock to Marxist philosophy. The basic premises of Marx are holistic in nature which rightly takes into consideration the real interconnection, interdependencies and interfaces between different systems respectively. Considering human as an organism having specific and concrete physical needs is to acknowledge the vital interconnections and interdependencies between humans and environment.
