Abstract

The development of Science and Technology improves quality of life. But the over exploitation of earth’s resources becomes a most threatening factor on the existence of life. The scientifically literate person always communicates with these types of problems and they discuss and debate the issues prevalent in the scientific world. The Scientific Literacy provides students with an ability to develop problem solving skills form an appreciation of natural world and understand natural phenomena that impact their daily life. To foster Scientific Literacy in the class room, Science teachers’ role is very important. The teacher has to empower students to understand the basic concepts, improve critical thinking skills and inquiry skills. The teacher should use appropriate strategies in the class room. This paper intends to showcase the ambiance of collaborative problem solving; to promote scientific literacy among students.
