Abstract

This paper examines human resource management practices in relation with small firms. Company size is associated with more formal HRM practices including greater regularity of performance appraisals and greater likelihood of employer based training. Majority of small and medium enterprise units do not have any human resource policy in place. However, they pursue some HR practices but in haphazard and arbitrary fashion.
