Abstract

Abtracts : In our Indian society, sex has always been regarded as a subject of secrecy and darkness. Since independence, efforts have been made to improve the educational scenario of our country but little importance is given towards sex education. People have a vague concept regarding sex education. Rather, most of the people have some wrong notions regarding the subject. But with the changing situation the need of sex education is greatly felt. Without a proper understanding of their bodies, children can never adjust properly with their world. So, it is high time to give importance on popularizing sex education and school is the ultimate workplace for it. In this paper, an attempt has been made to throw light on the need of sex education in the present day context and its place in the school education, especially at the lower secondary stage in Assam, India.
