ABSTRACT Like all other living beings man struggles for existence. The choice is always between a good metaphysic and a bad metaphysic. The values based on eternal truths of life, are the permanent values of the changing world. The purest form of ethical living can exist only when an individual has understood the root cause of social disharmony. It is therefore necessary for us to put forth our efforts in the direction indicated in the scriptures to enable us to grow inwardly and help bring about a progressive and a healthy society. Society trusts that the results of research reflect an honest attempt by scientists and other researchers to describe the world accurately and without bias. But this trust will endure only if the scientific community devotes itself to exemplifying and transmitting the values associated with ethical research conduct. This article concludes that a new way of thinking is required to function ethically in a socially interdependent universe.A need exists for spirituality to be incorporated into value based society. Such a process necessitates a clearer understanding of spirituality''s defining essence, that spirituality can play an ultimate role in developing value based society.
