Abstract

Non Governmental Organization (NGO) plays a vital role in rural development. NGOs are a legally constituted organization created by natural or legal persons that operates independently from any government. It provides opportunity for the self organization of the society. NGOs enable the rural citizens to work together voluntarily to promote social values. NGOs have proved to be strategic tool for organizing rural people in groups and promoting savings and thrift habits to gain access to institutional credit for their socio-economic development and empowerment.
