Abstract

Broadly, in Sikkim, almost all the preventive, curative and promotive service related to health is provided but the people are not capable to avail such facilities due to inaccessibility of rugged hilly terrain and lack of adequate hospitals, lack of general awareness, ignorance, illiteracy are some of the discouraging factors responsible for low birth weight babies, high Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR). It is also clear that, there is disparity of medical facilities among the districts of Sikkim.
