A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT IN RELATION TO EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE OF VISUALLY IMPAIRED AND NORMAL STUDENTS AT SECONDARY LEVEL ON PEER GROUND

Abstract

Present study conducted on Comparative study of Emotional intelligence in relation to Academic achievement and Personality of visually impaired with their peer student. Study intended to examine the comparison between Academic achievement and Emotional intelligence in Normal and Visually impaired studentsstudying in secondary school in inclusive sitting. A Descriptive survey method was adopted for the present research. The sample for the present study has been applying the Cluster Sampling Technique on 100 students of secondary school aged 14-16 yrs. Out of which 50 students have been selected with Normal vision and 50students have been selected Visually impaired in inclusive sitting.Emotional Intelligence Inventory by Dr. S.K. Mangal and Dr. Shubhra Manga used for collecting data and Marks obtained in the annual examination of the previous class were taken as Academic achievement. The data collected is subjected to statically analysis,namely ,Mean , Standard deviation, t-test .The main objective of this study were (1) To compare the totalAcademic achievement of Normal and Visually impaired studentsstudying in inclusive schools at secondary level .(2) To compare the total Emotional intelligenceof Normal and Visually impaired studentsstudying in inclusive schools at secondary level.The study revealed that (1) Significant difference found between Academic achievement of Normal and Visually impaired students .Academic achievement of Normal student is good in comparison of Visually impaired student. (2)Significant difference found between Emotional intelligence and its dimensions of Normal and Visually impaired students.Normal students are Emotionally more intelligent than Visually impaired students.
