EFFECT OF YOGA PRACTICES ON ADJUSTMENT OF ADOLESCENTS- A STUDY

Abstract

In the 21st century due to advancement of science, technology and educational system the life style of individual’s changes in a greater extend which cause many psychological problems by which the adolescent become socially in adjustable. Adolescence, itself is an unstable, unbalanced and unpredictable period in human life. Regular yoga practice has a very important role in making them socially adjustable person. If an adolescent cannot adjust properly in his social and educational environment then he has got frustrated and comes under stress. The main objectives of the topic are to find out the significant mean difference of emotional, social and educational dimension of adjustment among adolescent boys and girls practicing yoga and not practicing yoga. A sample size of 600 Students of secondary level were selected and taken up for the study. Self made questionnaire for Yoga informative Practice and Adjustment Inventory for School Students developed by Dr.A.K.P.Sinha and Dr.R.P.Singh was used for the study. It is found that there is a significant mean difference of emotional, social and educational dimension of adjustment among adolescent boys and girls practicing yoga and not practicing yoga.
