Abstract

The efficient market hypothesis is a theory that tries to explain the movement of share prices. It hypothesizes that at any given time, share prices fully reflect all available information and the stock market reacts immediately to all the information that is available. In this study an attempt has been made to study the efficiency of select stocks at the Sensex, from the Bombay Stock Exchange. For this purpose run test is used to study the randomness of the stocks. Investors though are assumed to be rational, they are always not rational. They do consider factors other than risk-return profile and the Sentiments do play a role in the Indian Stock Market
