Abstract

The modern era is called as an era of consumerism. Consumer is a god for seller so it is assumed that it is the full responsibility of seller to satisfy consumer but the relation of consumers and sellers sometimes find good and sometimes bad. For the welfare of consumers, government has made some provisions such as Consumer protection Act, Consumer Forum and also some advertisement are made such as ‘Jago Grahak Jago’. We always talk about the consumer’s right but what about the other area on which we rarely focus i.e. consumers’ negligence. In this paper, after the brief introduction of basic terms and government role for consumers’ protection in different areas, we try to focus on the other side of the coin that means always seller is not responsible for the problems consumer face, sometimes consumers are also responsible for the counterfeiting happened with him. This is very much obvious to understand that sellers and agents can cheat the consumers for profit by manipulating the facts but what about the consumers’ negligence? Why they got cheated? For this purpose we have adopted case study method.
