In central India another early centre of agricultural pastoral communities lay in the Vindhyan Fringes in Southern Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, i.e., the area bound by the Ganges in the north and River son in the south, where over 40 Neolithic sites have been identified in the course of explorations and excavations in the Belan, Adwa, son, Rihand, Ganga, Lapari and Paisuni rivers. Among the most important sites, mention may be made of Koldihwa and Mahagara in the Belan valley (Distt. Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh), sinduria in the Mirzapur Distt., and Kunjun in the sidhi Distt. Of Madhya Pradesh.
