Abstract

Civilisations develop around sources of water. All major rivers of the world Nile, Amazon, Mekong or Indus have been a witness to mushrooming civilisations around them. However, water being a finite element, coupled with quest towards better living means in a society, trading of goods; nomadic populations have also developed wherever water starts getting reduced in quality or quantity. Traditionally nomadic populations have been associated with deserts but increasing industrialisation, infrastructure development (dams and reservoir related R & R problems) have now started to create a new sector of moving population. Also there are cases of families rotating their places according to means of earning in festivals or a particular period of year for harvesting returns.
