A significant amount of an employee’s waking hours are spent at work. Not long ago, for most people this meant showing up at their workplace for a defined time period each day and, depending on the organization, putting in additional hours or “face time” after regular hours or on weekends. Increasingly, employers are finding that helping workers create and maintain a balance between their home and work lives is key to retaining the best employees.

General information about solar power is found in the following references [Duffie and Beckman, 1991] [Markvart, 2000]. The sun radiates energy radially, from an effective surface temperature of about 5760 K, as electromagnetic radiation known as `solar energy' or sunshine. The earth is situated at about 150 million km from the sun with a total surface area of about 510 million km2, of which only about 21% is land. A substantial portion of the solar radiation, on its way to reaching the earth’s surface, is attenuated due to atmospheric interventions. However, the intermittent nature of wind makes power system operation especially challenging. Rapid and flexible control of other generators is required to balance wind power generation with demand. In addition, the best wind resources are often found in rural areas far from existing high- capacity transmission lines.

Abstract

Indian women writers used Autobiographies not only to uncover their inner- most recesses but a platform to explore their feminine sensibilities felt from childhood to the old age. Autobiography seems to be a braver attempt than fiction because it is supposed to portray their private incidents of life, secret feelings, personal emotions and clandestine relationships which can play havoc with their private and social life and thus have real impact and wider appeal. This attempt can be termed as Herculean in the case of female authors as they have to breathe in the male dominated society which makes it difficult for them to survive not only as authors but as dignified citizens of society as well if there is anything against the established norms, traditions and taboos of society and more so in the case of those related to females in their life stories. These life narratives were termed as Autogynographies by Domma Stanton to mark the difference between a male autobiography and a female one. These are full of the features which are central to the core of woman’s heart i.e. childhood, marriage and children on which a male throws just a cursory glance. A man speaks about his success, ambitions and conflicts and struggle in achieving the same whereas a woman embarks upon the emotional issues of relationships with parents, siblings, spouse and offsprings primarily and gives second place to career and office. In the 20th century Anglo-Indian autogynographies written from Sunity Devee’s The autobiography of an Indian Princess (1921) to Mrinal Pandey’s Daughter’s Daughter (1993) and Shobha De’s Selective Memories (1998), These women writers explored not only their inner recesses of heart but exposed subtle and faint forms of discrimination and unfairness of this male dominated society also which otherwise remain hidden in other genres of literature.

Abstract

Carl Rogers, an eminent psychologist has said that every person has an innate tendency to actualize, to move forward, to develop and grow, which is much stronger than any urge to regress brought on by the pains that accompany growth. According to him, it is this tendency that propels the child to take its initial steps and persist in learning to walk in spite of the pain caused by his falling over again and again while moving over from crawling stage to walking stage. In describing all life, Rogers has used such phrases as the “tenacity of life” and the “forward thrust of life”, indicating his belief in the existence of virtually irresistible forces that cause an organism not only to survive, sometimes under extremely hostile conditions, but also to adapt and develop and grow. But growth and development in life means different things to different people. This has been, and still is, the psychological truth of this whole world, which demarcates the globe into east and west in the sentimental delineation of sensibilities. Whereas, creation of wealth in life has been the index for measuring growth and development for the west, east has always perceived spiritual awakening of the soul and content of heart as the scale for analyzing real growth and development in life.

History is a mute witness to the most inhuman suffering that has been inflicted on women. For e.g. all men and women were subject to the will of Almighty God and, under Him, to his earthly agents, principally the king and the higher clergy, and could only practice what they wished with the consent or at least the tacit acceptance of the authorities. They have been intricately tied to the laws, customs and religions throughout the ages.

The time allocated to physical education in the majority of western schools has declined over the last decade, with a consequent increase in time allocation for other academic subjects. Budget restraints and pressure to meet academic targets have caused schools to cut back on physical education, with the aim of improving academic performance. There was even a perception amongst key decision makers that time spent on non-academic pursuits might impact negatively on academic achievement. However, advocates of school-based physical activity have suggested that physical education, physical activity and sport may contribute to the enhancement of academic performance either directly or through the achievement of wider social outcomes which, in turn, may impact on academic achievement.

Just like one must learn the alphabet to read and write, he must also learn fundamental movement and sports skills to successfully take part in physical activities for life. These basic skills are the building blocks of physical literacy and will allow a child to move confidently, competently and with control through a wide variety of physical activity, rhythmic (such as dance) and sports situations. It also allows a child to look at and understand movements going on around them causing them to base their decisions on understanding. Research shows that without the development of physical literacy, many learners and youth stop taking part in physical activity and sports. This makes them less active and can cause them to make unhealthy choices during their leisure time.

It is clear that the term social marketing is now a well established part of the marketing vocabulary in universities, government agencies, private non profit organizations and private profit organizations. The term social marketing was first coined by Kotler and Zaltman in 1971 to refer to the application of marketing to the solution of social problems. Marketing has been remarkably successful in encouraging people to buy products such as Coca Cola and Nike trainers, so, the argument runs, it can also encourage people to adopt Behaviours that will enhance their own - and their fellow citizens’ - lives.

Knowledge has become an increasingly critical resource, and it is almost impossible to gain competitive advantage without managing it strategically. Knowledge is information that managers and workers transform, contextualize and apply in order to create value for the business, which in turn allows it to remain in the market (Pearlson & Saunders, 2004). Knowledge also occurs when people add their own experience and judgment to the already existing information (Kidwell, Vander Linde, & Johnson, 2000).

Barani introduced the theme of moral corruption in politics, a consequence of misdirected royal patronage, in the very beginning of his history, in Balban’s reign. In the narrative of that monarch’s reign, Barani insinuated the story of Kamal Mahiyar, the son of a Hindu ghulam who was recommended to Balban for appointment as the accountant (khwaja) of Amroha. Although in his narrative, Balban was not swayed by this recommendation, Barani wanted his readers to know that this Sultan was the paradigmatic exception; later Sultans lacked Balban’s acuity and good sense. Kamal Mahiyar, for example, figured in his successor’s list of grandees. The favouritism shown to personnel of ‘poor lineage and background’ (kam aslī wa kam bizā‘at), according to Barani, had reached its culmination in Muhammad Tughluq’s reign.

Entrepreneurship that is the human intellect in action is such a highly valued characteristic of humankind that in the absence of it nothing new could have happened. Women entrepreneurship is gaining importance in India in the wake of economic liberalization and globalization. In Comparison to other countries, the development of women entrepreneurship is very low in India, especially in rural areas. However, middle class women are not too eager to alter their role due to fear of social backlash. The progress is more visible among upper class families in urban areas. The potential flexibility in time use from entrepreneurship can also facilitate balancing work and family obligations for women. However, entrepreneurs, both male and female, are relatively scarce in India compared to peer countries, and tend to work in small units often outside the formal sector. This paper focuses on the present scenario, problems, challenges faced by women entrepreneurs, and how to overcome them.
