Existing research is a review of the preparation of commerce teachers critically, particularly at the secondary school level, teachers have to be prepared for different streams and subjects. Commerce is one stream, which is in great demand at the school level. There is emergent need to understand the nature of the discipline of commerce and to view the preparation of commerce teachers in the context. Further, this has to be embedded in the entire framework of teacher education that we visualize for the future. Thus, the need for both knowledge of commerce education as well as an understanding of pedagogic issues has to be addressed.
