Abstract

In India, women are regarded as custodians of the tradition, culture and heritage and hence they were regarded as an essential part of society. No positive changes or developments in the society can be brought in a land like India by ignoring its women The present day condition forces the modern Indian feminist thinkers to think about the need of providing proper guidance and opportunities to the women folk for making them aware of their social responsibilities, needs and the injustice towards them within the limits of the cultural tradition of the country. It is possible only by making an integrated effort to awaken Indian women spiritually, morally and intellectually. For this, Indian feminists have to frame an Indian theory of feminism, within the limits of the native culture and heritage.

Abstract

Tribals have been displaced in large numbers on account of various large development projects like irrigation dams, hydro-electric and thermal power plants, coal mines and mineral-based industries. A National Policy on Relief and Rehabilitation of Project Affected Families (PAFs) was notified in February, 2004 with a relief package of seventeen parameters to be fulfilled before permitting dislocation. Thereafter, the Government of India, in October, 2007 approved a new National Policy for Rehabilitation and Resettlement. But serious work on PAFs is yet to start in tribal areas. Tribals are alienated from their lands not only by acquisition of land for public purpose, but also by fraudulent transfers, forcible eviction, mortgages, leases and encroachment. The Ministry of Rural Development has estimated the extent of alienation of tribal land in different states: Andhra Pradesh (2.79 lakh acres), Madhya Pradesh (1.58 lakh acres), Karnataka (1.3 lakh acres), Gujrat (1.16 lakh acres). Most tribals displaced by development projects or industries have not been satisfactorily rehabilitated. Those displaced have been forced to migrate to new areas and more often, have unknowingly encroached on forest lands and on record, are considered as illegal occupants. This type of displacement has led to far-reaching negative social and economic consequences. The dislocations and the uncertainty concerning their future have made such displaced tribal population an easy target for the extremists.Large number of local denizens including tribal population inJharia Coal Belt has displaced due to underground fire face various socio-economic problems.

Brand perception is a special result of a consumer’s experiences with a brand. It’s highly pivotal to a marketing strategy as it’s often what elevates a simple product or company into a brand: the same as putting a face to a name. This study was conducted to know about the consumer preference on the foreign and local goods available in the market. The purpose of this study was to know about the consumer’s choice of goods and the reason behind their choice. Consumer buying behavior is a key factor that determines this choice. The study also shows that motive is another factor that triggers the consumers to buy a product in order to satisfy their needs. The result of our findings suggests that the consumers are mostly unaware of the ‘country of origin’ of the brand they use and they have less brand awareness i.e. they are less familiar with the qualities or image of a particular brand of goods or services. It also suggests that most of them are quality conscious and price delicate customer. In order for them to have brand awareness publicity about the product should be given through advertisement, newspaper, internet etc.
